Types of Hearing Tests We Conduct

Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)

The most common hearing test. You listen to tones at different frequencies and volumes through headphones in a soundproof room and indicate when you hear them.

Tympanometry

Tests the movement of your eardrum to detect fluid, wax buildup, infections, or perforations in the middle ear. Quick and painless.

Bone Conduction Test

A small device placed behind the ear sends vibrations directly to the inner ear, bypassing the ear canal and middle ear. This helps identify whether hearing loss is conductive or sensorineural.

Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE)

Checks the function of outer hair cells in the inner ear. Commonly used for newborn hearing screenings and young children.

Speech Audiometry

Tests how well you understand spoken words at different volumes. This determines your speech recognition ability important for selecting the right hearing aid.

Auditory Brainstem Response

Measures how the hearing nerve and brain respond to sound. Used for newborns, infants, or individuals who cannot participate in standard tests.
